Meet the coach behind

Top Job English

I’m Matthew Stickley, MBA, and I built Top Job English for professionals and managers who already know their job, but need their spoken English to stay clearer, more structured, and more credible when meetings get harder.

This is not general conversation practice. It is meeting-performance coaching built for updates, difficult questions, interruptions, pushback, and delivery under pressure.

Why this work exists

Most capable professionals do not struggle because they lack knowledge. They struggle because the message becomes less effective under pressure.

Too much detail. Loose structure. Unclear priorities. Answers that do not land cleanly the first time.

That is the problem this work is built to solve. The aim is stronger spoken performance when clarity, control, and credibility matter.

What shaped the approach

Before Top Job English, I worked in management and consulting roles in the UK and Uruguay.

That background shaped how I coach. The work stays close to real business behaviour: how people brief, how they answer under challenge, how they protect a position, and how quickly credibility drops when the message becomes too long or too loose.

The coaching approach was then refined through repeated work on real spoken delivery — not abstract language improvement, but practical performance in meetings.

Why clients trust this work

Business-side understanding

I understand the pressure behind the language: time constraints, stakeholder expectations, follow-up questions, and the need to make the point clearly.

Coaching built in real use

The work has been shaped through repeated coaching on summaries, analysis, pushback, reruns, and correction under pressure.

Direct, practical standards

The focus is not whether English sounds good in theory. The focus is whether the message lands clearly, holds together, and sounds credible in a real meeting.

What working with me is like

Structured

Sessions are clear, active, and purposeful. You should always understand what is being trained and why it matters.

Direct

I do not let weak phrasing, loose sequencing, or avoidable drift pass. If the answer weakens, we fix it and rerun it.

Commercially relevant

The work stays close to real use: updates, briefings, follow-up questions, disagreement, and moments where you need to respond without much preparation.

You can expect correction, prioritisation, reruns, and pressure where needed. The point is not safe classroom performance. The point is spoken delivery that holds up when the room is less forgiving.

800+ professionals coached

Refined through repeated work on real meeting delivery: summaries, analysis, pushback, reruns, and correction under pressure.

Who this is a strong fit for

This is a strong fit if you already know your job, but want your English to sound more controlled when the stakes rise.

You may be a good fit if:

  • You know the point, but take too long to reach it.

  • Your answer loses structure once follow-up questions begin.

  • You sound less decisive than you intend.

  • You need to push back, hedge, or defer without sounding weak.

  • You want direct coaching tied to real workplace use.

Who it is probably not for

This is probably not the right fit if you mainly want general English lessons, light conversation practice, or a low-pressure format with minimal correction.

The work is structured, active, and built around real meeting behaviour.

Start with the clearest next step

The best first step is the Meeting Diagnostic.

In one focused session, you see how your current delivery performs, where it starts to weaken, and what changes when the message becomes clearer, tighter, and better structured.
